Go, Erin, go!

I'm a working mom, postpartum depression survivor, wannabe runner, and married to a sous chef who is currently an awesome stay-at-home dad. This is my life.

Hello 2013! January 1, 2013

Welcome, 2013!  This should be a good year!  A big goal of mine for 2013 is to get back to a healthy, be fit, be active, and be a good role model for my two kids.  Nate is 3 1/2 years old and Lindsay is 3 months old.  I want them to see their parents being fit, active, and healthy so hopefully they will be as well.

To keep myself accountable in my goal to lose 40 pounds, I will be chronicalling it here.  So, hi to mom, Alan, Cristen, and perhaps Dean, as those are the only people who even check my blog at this point.

Working out is going to be a big part of this, so I have come up with a game plan for that. I will be using fitness DVDs along with riding/running each month.  For January, I will be doing Lindsay Brin’s Shed 5 Fast.  This will be considered my resistance training which I will do Monday, Wednesday,Friday.  On Tuesday,Thursday, Saturday, I’ll ride my bike on the trainer or run.

I’ll be using My Fitness Pal to track my calories and workouts.  My goal is to eat approximately 1,250 calories a day plus calories from my workouts, which will probably be around 250 or so.  That bring my total calories per day to around 1,500.  I’ll adjust as necessary, but you have to start somewhere and this is where My Fitness Pal suggests I start.

I weighed myself and took my measurements this morning.  Really, what I want to do is lose inches, but the 40 pound goal gets me to a healthy weight for my height.  I will be remesuring and weighing in every 10 days.  I was thinking of doing it just twice a month, on the 1st and 15th, but I think that’s a little too long to wait to step on the scale incase I am slipping.  I’ll post my results here.

Let the getting fit begin!
